David Espenshade joined the Yale men’s lacrosse staff as the director of operations in November 2016, and his presence had an immediate impact with an Ivy League regular season and tournament championship.
Espenshade spent the 2015-2016 season as an assistant at Ursinus College. The Bears went 14-3 and earned an appearance in the Centennial Conference finals, while three players earned All-America honors and eight were named to the All-CC team.
Prior to his work at Ursinus, Espenshade served as the offensive coordinator and goalie coach at Manheim Township High School for four years. Espenshade was responsible for the development and implementation of a lacrosse curriculum throughout Manheim’s program. During this time, Espenshade also served as the director of player development, co-recruiting coordinator, and U-19 coach for Low and Away Lancaster.
A native of Lancaster, Pa., Espenshade graduated from Franklin and Marshall College with a B.A. in government in 2008. He has worked at the Pentagon in the Defense Reconstruction Support Office for Iraq, the U.S. Senate, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and helped manage components of successful statewide and U.S Congressional political campaigns.
